You might be wondering why we choose a Maraca as a symbol of our brand. When Katie and I were starting our careers, a handful of objects and symbols are so vivid in our memories as we reflect on those beautiful years of learning.
A Fond Memory
One of those symbols is the maraca! It's packed with nostalgia and wonderful memories of all the early treatment we provided to all those amazing kids. I remember trying to teach imitation skills using a maraca in my early experiences as a behavior technician. Compared to other objects you might use for imitation programs, the maraca seemed to work better because of the whimsy and enjoyment that comes when shaking it up and playing together with somebody else. That whole season of learning and growth early on in my career was so exciting, and that’s why we chose Maraca as our name.
A Reminder
That’s why for us the maraca is a playful symbol of early childhood. It reminds us that ABA therapy is not about the best marketing strategies, maximizing profit, unreasonable expectations, or trying to get the most productivity out of your staff. The maraca keeps us grounded, and reminds us that ABA therapy is all about the kids, their families, and the ability of ABA to completely change lives.
